9/12-9/19 74th NW Virtual District Convention

This is a great opportunity to hear the Dharma from Reverends from all over the country. Usually, the Northwest Conventions are sponsored by the various northwest temples and is in person, but because of Covid-19 it is virtual again this year. 

Here is the link for the scheduled speakers at the 74th Annual Northwest District Convention from Sept 12th-19th. It is virtual this year, with 2 services, 7 speakers and a panel discussion, all through Zoom and YouTube.

7/7, 7/14, 7/22 Bon Odori Dance Lessons

Come Learn the Bon Odori dances With Izumi

Then you can dance at the Obon Festival on 7/25/21!

No prior experience needed; the dances are easy to learn

4:30 pm – Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry, Spokane

Wed. 7/7 – Wed. 7/14 – Thur. 7/22

Bon Odori is the “Beauty of Japanese Dance”. This style of Japanese dance is performed during the Obon Festival, a time of Gathering, Gratitude and Celebration.

Our instructor is Izumi, a 15-year student of Wakahisa-kai Asian Traditional Dance & Music Foundation, Inc. Dancing is accompanied by vocalist Narong, singing traditional Japanese folk songs.

TEMPLE RE-OPENING 7/11 for indoor services

Maximum Occupancy in the Hondo is 45 people
Overflow downstairs with a speaker. 

Sign in at the front door.

Masks required for everyone. 

If you are not feeling well, or have a temperature over 100 degrees, please stay home and view the service on Facebook.

Covid-19 guidelines are being followed.

No incense. Chanting while seated.

The service will still be live on Facebook, through Zoom, and later uploaded to YouTube.
